Bruce
Bruce Larsen has been helping individuals and families pursue financial security for more than 30 years. His career began in accounting after earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Wyoming in 1988. After nine years in accounting, Bruce transitioned to personal financial planning, where he developed a particular expertise in retirement income, tax planning, estate planning, and Social Security.
In 2020, Bruce brought his practice to Colorado Wealth Group, where he continues to work with clients while collaborating with other advisors and professionals to provide comprehensive financial planning. His approach is highly integrated, recognizing that investment decisions, retirement income, taxes, Social Security, insurance, and estate planning are interconnected.
Bruce has a particular passion for helping clients make informed decisions about taxes in retirement. He is an Enrolled Agent (EA), giving him a strong foundation in federal taxation, and has written a book focused on taxes in retirement. He also developed Tax Acuity, a tax-planning application designed to help financial advisors identify and implement tax-planning opportunities for their clients.
For more than 25 years, Bruce has also specialized in special-needs planning, helping families address the unique financial, estate-planning, and long-term care challenges associated with disability and special-needs situations. He is a Certified Estate Planner™ (CEP®), a designation focused on estate-planning essentials including living trusts, estate taxes, disability and special-needs planning, and related topics.
Bruce's philosophy is centered on helping clients understand not just where they are financially, but how today's decisions can affect their financial security years or even generations into the future. His practice takes a multi-generational approach, working with clients and, when appropriate, helping coordinate planning across their family tree.
Bruce grew up on a cattle ranch in Wyoming and has called Colorado home since 2008. He has a grown son and daughter and enjoys spending time with family, life on his Colorado ranch, team roping, and spending time outdoors.

How did you become a financial advisor?
My career began in accounting, eventually leading to a corporate CFO role. Over time, I found myself wanting to work more directly with individuals and families, helping them make sense of their finances in a way that felt accessible and personal. That desire prompted my transition into financial advising, where retirement and tax planning became central parts of my work.
What types of clients do you work with?
I primarily work with people who are at or nearing retirement. Many are preparing for major financial transitions, evaluating their income needs, or working through estate and legacy considerations. I also collaborate with families across generations, helping them stay organized and aligned as their circumstances evolve.
What areas of expertise do you have?
My background includes tax planning, estate planning, and retirement planning. These areas often overlap, and I enjoy helping clients understand how decisions in one area influence the others. My training as a CEP® and my work as an Enrolled Agent contribute to the technical foundation I bring to each relationship.
What kinds of strategies do you help clients with?
I assist clients with Social Security filing considerations, tax-aware planning, retirement income planning, and estate and trust planning. These strategies are guided by a client’s goals, family structure, and long-term needs, and I take a holistic look at how each piece fits into the broader picture.
What is your favorite part of working with clients?
I enjoy catching up with clients and learning how their lives and priorities are evolving. Those conversations help shape the guidance I provide and strengthen long-term relationships. Seeing clients gain clarity and a stronger sense of direction is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
What is it like partnering with Savvy?
I appreciate the high level of support Savvy provides — from technology to operational resources — which helps create a smoother experience for both advisors and clients.
