Eric Hamberg
Hi, I’m Eric. I’m a CFP® professional, Vice President, and co-owner of Rik Saylor Financial. I work primarily with families approaching retirement and small business owners who want to understand how the different pieces of their financial lives fit together.
My approach starts with education and clarity. Financial decisions involving retirement, taxes, investments, insurance, an estate, or a business can get complicated quickly. I focus on breaking those questions down into understandable choices and developing a plan around each client’s specific goals and priorities.
I want clients to understand why we’re making a decision, not just what we’re doing. The plan starts with their goals and is built around the life they want their finances to support.

How did you become a financial advisor?
I studied finance and real estate at the University of Cincinnati and began my career as a paraplanner. That gave me the opportunity to learn financial planning from the ground up.
I joined RSF as an advisor in 2008, continued taking on greater responsibility with clients, and became a co-owner in 2021. That progression has shaped how I work today because I learned early that good planning requires both careful analysis and the ability to explain complicated issues in a way people can actually use.
What types of clients do you work with?
I primarily work with families in their mid-to-late 50s who have accumulated significant assets, as well as small business owners.
Many are reaching a point where decisions around retirement, taxes, investments, their business, and their estate are becoming more connected. They want to understand their choices and build a coordinated plan around what comes next.
What areas of expertise do you have?
My work centers on family financial planning, tax analysis and planning, retirement planning, and small business planning.
Depending on the client, that can also involve investment and asset management, insurance considerations, and coordinating estate planning questions with the client’s attorney or other outside professionals.
What kinds of strategies do you help clients with?
Retirement and tax planning are two significant areas of my work. With business owners, I also spend time on business planning and optimization.
The specifics depend on the client. I want to understand their goals, resources, concerns, and priorities before determining which planning strategies make sense for their situation.
What is your favorite part of working with clients?
Helping clients pursue freedom.
That means something different to every person. For one family, it may be reaching retirement with a clear plan. For a business owner, it may mean having more choices about what happens next with the company. I enjoy helping clients define what freedom looks like to them and then organizing the financial planning around it.
What is it like partnering with Savvy?
I appreciate Savvy’s technology and back-office support, but I also value having a broader group of advisors who are willing to help one another.
That combination gives our RSF team additional resources while allowing us to stay focused on our client relationships and planning work.
