Patrick Traverse

Hi, 👋 I’m Patrick. I work with business owners across the United States who want a clearer, more intentional approach to managing their finances. I help entrepreneurs bring together cash flow, investments, and tax-aware planning so their personal and business finances work together. My approach is shaped by my early career as a professional hockey player, where I saw how hard it can be to find advice that looks at the full financial picture.

Patrick
Patrick Traverse is a Wealth Advisor with over a decade of experience working with entrepreneurs and business owners across the United States. His work centers on helping clients coordinate their business finances with their personal financial lives so they can make more intentional decisions about their money. Patrick’s journey into financial planning began during his career as a professional hockey player. Early in his career, he realized he needed financial guidance that addressed more than investments. He wanted help understanding cash flow, taxes, and long-term planning decisions that influence how wealth is built over time. When he struggled to find that kind of guidance, he began learning these areas himself. That experience shaped his perspective and ultimately led him into financial advising. Today, Patrick focuses on helping business owners build structured financial strategies that support both their personal goals and the growth of their businesses. Patrick holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designation, is an Enrolled Agent (EA) authorized to represent clients before the IRS, and holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA™) designation. These credentials support his work helping entrepreneurs plan for long-term financial growth, tax efficiency, and eventual business transitions.
How did you become a financial advisor?
My journey to becoming a financial advisor began during my career as a professional hockey player. Early on, I realized I needed Holistic financial advice that addressed the bigger picture. Most advisors I spoke with focused almost entirely on managing investments, but what I needed was help with cash flow, taxes, and long-term financial planning. Because I couldn’t find that type of guidance at the time, I started learning these areas myself. Along the way I discovered many entrepreneurs and professionals were facing the same challenge. They were receiving pieces of advice but not a coordinated strategy. That experience ultimately led me to the financial planning profession and to building Breakaway Financial Group.
What types of clients do you work with?
I primarily work with small business owners across the United States who want a more organized and intentional approach to their finances. Many of my clients are successful entrepreneurs who have built strong businesses but want help bringing clarity to their personal and business financial strategy. My goal is to help simplify the financial side of their lives so they can focus on running and growing their companies.
What areas of expertise do you have?
My work focuses on coordinating the areas that influence long-term financial progress for business owners. This includes cash flow management, investment planning, and tax-aware financial strategies. Because many entrepreneurs have a significant portion of their wealth tied to their businesses, I also focus on integrating business finances with a broader personal financial plan.
What kinds of strategies do you help clients with?
Many of the strategies we focus on help business owners manage cash flow more effectively, invest consistently, and improve tax efficiency over time. This often includes building systems for saving and investing from business income, structuring tax-aware investment approaches, and planning for major financial decisions such as reinvesting in the business, preparing for retirement, or evaluating a future business exit.
What is your favorite part of working with clients?
I enjoy helping clients gain clarity and confidence around their financial future. Many business owners are very skilled at running their companies, but their personal finances can feel fragmented or uncertain. When we help bring everything together into a clear strategy, it’s rewarding to see the sense of confidence that comes with having a plan. I also enjoy the coaching aspect of the relationship. Long-term progress rarely comes from one decision. It comes from consistent actions over time.
What is it like partnering with Savvy?
What I appreciate most about working with Savvy is the combination of technology and support that allows me to focus on serving my clients. Savvy’s platform streamlines many of the operational aspects of running a practice, which allows me to spend more time helping clients think strategically about their financial lives. It is also a collaborative environment where advisors share ideas and insights that help improve the solutions we deliver to clients.
