Andrew N George, Sr

Hi 👋🏼 I’m Andrew. I’m a financial advisor based in Starkville, Mississippi, with 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate important financial decisions.

Financial planning has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My father was an early CFP® professional in Mississippi, and after law school, I joined him in practice. Seeing the relationships he built with families shaped how I approach my own work today.

I combine comprehensive financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, and estate and legacy considerations with behavioral investment counseling. My goal is to help clients bring structure to complex decisions, stay disciplined through changing markets, and build a thoughtful financial plan around what matters most to them.

Get to know Andrew

Andrew George brings 20 years of financial services experience to his work with individuals and families. His connection to financial planning began early, inspired in part by his father, who was an early CFP® professional in Mississippi. This experience gave Andrew a firsthand perspective on the role a financial advisor can play in helping families make thoughtful financial decisions throughout different stages of life.

Andrew attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Managerial Finance with an emphasis in Investment Analysis. After beginning his career in life insurance and financial planning, he returned to Ole Miss to earn his Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, he received the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award and served as Attorney General for the Law School Student Body.

After completing his law degree in 2008, Andrew worked alongside his father in a Registered Investment Advisory practice before continuing his career in financial services. His legal education gives him an additional perspective when reviewing estate, tax, business succession, and wealth-transfer considerations and coordinating with clients’ attorneys and tax professionals.

Andrew’s work centers on long-term relationships. He serves professionals, business owners, retirees, and families with complex financial lives who want their planning, investments, retirement strategy, and legacy considerations viewed together rather than separately. He also incorporates behavioral investment counseling into his work, helping clients remain disciplined when markets and personal circumstances change.

Outside of his professional work, Andrew has served as an Elder and as President of the Christian Preschool Board of Directors at First Presbyterian Church Starkville. He is an Eagle Scout and has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. He has also served his local community through homeowner association and volunteer fire district board roles.

Andrew and his wife, Stacey, are the parents of twins, Drew and Katie Clay.

How did you become a financial advisor?

Financial planning has been part of my life from an early age. My father was one of the first CFP® professionals in Mississippi, and I grew up seeing the relationships he developed with the families he served. After earning my undergraduate degree, I worked in life insurance and financial planning before returning to the University of Mississippi for law school.

After completing my law degree in 2008, I joined my father’s Registered Investment Advisory practice. Working alongside him reinforced my belief that financial advising is about much more than managing investments. It is about helping people make thoughtful decisions, building lasting relationships, and being someone clients can turn to as their lives change. I’m proud to carry that approach forward in my own practice.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My work includes comprehensive financial planning, investment management, retirement planning, tax-aware investment strategies, estate and legacy planning, and business succession planning.

I also place a strong emphasis on behavioral investment counseling. Markets can create pressure to make decisions based on short-term emotions, so part of my role is helping clients remain disciplined and focused on their longer-term objectives.

My legal education also gives me a useful perspective when identifying estate, tax, and business planning considerations and when coordinating with clients’ attorneys and tax professionals.

What types of clients do you work with?

I primarily work with individuals and families who value a long-term advisory relationship and want a trusted partner to help them navigate important financial decisions.

My clients include professionals, business owners, retirees, and families managing more complex financial circumstances. Many want support that goes beyond portfolio management. They want an advisor who understands their family, their goals, and the different pieces of their financial life. Many of my relationships span years and, increasingly, generations.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I help clients develop strategies for accumulating, preserving, and eventually transferring wealth. That can include building and managing investment portfolios, developing retirement income and distribution strategies, addressing financial risks, and planning for significant financial decisions.

I also help clients coordinate tax, estate, charitable giving, and wealth-transfer considerations with their other professional advisors. Throughout the process, I focus on helping clients remain disciplined as markets, priorities, and life circumstances evolve.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart?

I combine comprehensive financial planning with behavioral investment counseling.

Financial projections and investment strategies are important, but investor behavior can also have a meaningful effect on long-term outcomes. I spend time helping clients understand their plan and the reasoning behind it so they can make thoughtful decisions when markets become uncertain or circumstances change.

My goal is to bring the different parts of a client’s financial life together while providing a consistent perspective over time.

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

My favorite part is seeing the relief that can come from thorough financial planning. Money and significant financial decisions can create uncertainty for almost any family.

I enjoy helping clients organize those decisions, understand their options, and know they have a thoughtful plan in place. It is especially rewarding to develop relationships where clients know they have someone to call as their lives and priorities change.

Working with Savvy

What attracted me to Savvy is the belief that technology should enhance the advisor-client relationship rather than replace it.

Savvy’s integrated technology helps make the investment management, planning, and administrative sides of an advisory practice more efficient. That gives me more time to focus on working directly with clients, providing thoughtful advice, and building lasting relationships with the families I serve.

I’m excited to combine Savvy’s technology and resources with the highly personal approach to wealth management that has been important throughout my career.
