Brandon Wyand is the Founder of Out West Financial and brings more than a decade of experience in wealth management. He earned his CFP® designation in 2018 and has held advisory roles at Compound Planning, Vanguard, Personal Capital, and Empower Advisory Group. He also obtained Series 63 and 65 licenses and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Business Entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurship was part of Brandon’s life well before wealth management. He ran a successful eBay business through high school and college and purchased his first home in Old Town Scottsdale during his senior year. That entrepreneurial background continues to shape the practical, independent perspective he brings to his work today.
Now based in Morrison, Colorado, Brandon enjoys skiing, riding his Aprilia Tuono V4 1100RR, seeing live music at Red Rocks, and exploring Colorado with his wife and their three dogs.

Mostly by chance. During my senior year at Arizona State University, my parents encouraged me to attend a career fair. I was on my way out when someone from AXA Advisors stopped me and introduced me to financial advising.
At 22, I was drawn to the entrepreneurial side of the career. I started in the life insurance industry and eventually met a mentor who was a CFP® professional. Seeing the way he approached the profession gave me a clearer picture of the kind of advisor I wanted to become. I earned my CFP® designation in 2018, and what began as an unexpected conversation at a career fair turned into my career.
My work centers on tax planning considerations, estate and trust planning, investment style and selection, and financial planning.
I also pay close attention to how clients experience risk. Traditional risk assessments can provide useful information, but they do not always capture how someone will react when circumstances change. Understanding that emotional component gives me another lens when helping clients evaluate financial decisions.
I work with people who want more freedom in their financial lives and value having someone they can talk to openly about money.
There isn’t one age or demographic that defines my clients. A retiree on the West Coast can be just as good a fit as a 28-year-old graphic designer in New York City. What matters is that we communicate well and can have direct, productive conversations about the decisions that affect their lives.
I focus on tax planning and optimization because they are crucial aspects to consider when managing your finances. By strategizing efficient ways to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings, my clients can plan for the future. Additionally, I also help clients with retirement planning, Investment management, and cash flow planning because they are essential for maintaining a healthy financial balance.
The strategy depends on the person. I help clients look at the financial choices available to them, understand the tradeoffs, and determine which direction fits their circumstances.
That can involve coordinating tax considerations, estate planning, investment decisions, or broader financial planning. Instead of starting with a predetermined answer, I start with what the client is trying to accomplish.
I don’t view investment management as the entire value of an advisory relationship. Investment tools are widely available. What technology cannot easily replicate is knowing a client well enough to recognize the concerns, preferences, and behaviors influencing a decision.
I spend time understanding those factors because they can be just as important as the calculations behind a financial plan.
The people. The financial side of the work came naturally to me, but relationships are what made me want to stay in the profession.
I enjoy talking with people, learning what matters to them, and being useful when they have an important decision to make. Over time, those conversations create the kind of working relationships that make this career rewarding for me.
Savvy gives me the autonomy to build my practice around the way I want to serve clients, while providing technology and resources that support the work behind the scenes.
I see that combination as a strong fit for where financial advice is headed and for the kind of practice I want to continue building.
