Kacie Schulz, MS, CFP®, EA

Hi there! 👋🏼 I’m Kacie, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Enrolled Agent with more than a decade of experience in wealth management. I founded Fortify Financial to provide individuals and families with independent, fiduciary advice that brings investment, financial, and tax planning together. Throughout my career, I’ve helped hundreds of people—from those just beginning to build wealth to ultra-high-net-worth families—navigate important financial decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

Outside of work, I most enjoy spending time with my family, being active outdoors, and traveling to new places. These experiences continually remind me that financial planning is about far more than numbers—it’s about creating the freedom to spend your time on the people, experiences, and goals that matter most.

How did you become a financial advisor?

My interest in personal finance began at age 12, when a local bank owner visited my sixth-grade class and introduced us to the power of compound interest. That curiosity stayed with me through college, having graduated during the 2008 financial crisis. At 27, I began working in wealth management and quickly realized how much I enjoyed a field that brings together finance and economics with psychology, education, and meaningful client relationships.

What areas of expertise do you have?

Integrated tax planning is a key focus of my practice. In addition to being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, I pursued a tax credential to deepen my understanding of how tax considerations intersect with investment and financial planning decisions. This perspective helps me evaluate strategies such as tax-loss harvesting, Roth conversions, tax-deferred savings, business income and expense planning, charitable giving, and education planning as part of a client’s broader financial picture.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with proactive problem-solvers who value hard work, resilience, innovation, and opportunity. My clients include business owners, executives, and other leaders across engineering, technology, healthcare, and higher education. I also work with Midwest farm and ranch families, as well as snowbirds whose lifestyles and financial needs span multiple states.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I help protect my clients’ time by bringing clarity and structure to complex financial decisions. My work often includes tax-optimized portfolio allocation, small-business retirement planning, Roth conversions, retirement withdrawal strategies, education savings, and multigenerational planning.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart?

My approach begins with listening…understanding what matters most to each client and the life they are working to build. Becoming a fiduciary advisor was a natural extension of my commitment to putting clients’ interests first. I believe decisions about cash flow, balance sheets, and investments should be guided by your goals and values, not corporate priorities or product sales.

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

I love learning about the experiences that have shaped my clients and understanding where they hope to go next. Every person has a unique story that influences the life they want to build and the legacy they hope to leave behind. Helping clients bring that vision into focus is what makes wealth advisory so interesting and incredibly rewarding.

I value Savvy’s unique combination of intuitive technology and a deeply mission-driven team. Its modern platform and efficient workflows allow me to spend less time navigating administrative complexities and more time delivering thoughtful, best-interest advice to my clients.
