Matt Versage
Hi 👋🏼 I’m Matt. I’m a financial advisor in Tampa, Florida. I work with high-net-worth families and business owners on retirement, investment strategy, and long-term wealth planning. Most of my clients come to me with several financial decisions in motion at once and no single place where those decisions connect. That is the work I do: envisioning how all the pieces fit together, building one coordinated plan, and then executing on it.
“Nothing about working with me should feel like a sales process. My job is to understand what you are trying to accomplish, lay out the considerations clearly, and help you decide, not to show up with the recommendation already made.”

Get to know Matt
Matt Versage’s interest in wealth management began when he watched someone close to him leave a large bank to build an independent practice. What stood out was not the business decision. It was how differently the client conversations went once an institution was not setting the agenda.
That shaped how he practices today. Matt maps the full financial picture before proposing anything: what is owned, where it sits, how it is taxed, and who it eventually passes to. Plans built before that work tend to solve for one account instead of the whole household.
As a CFP® professional, he brings a planning framework to conversations that often start as investment questions. How something should be invested usually depends on factors that have nothing to do with the portfolio.
Much of his work involves decisions that touch more than one person. A business owner weighing a sale. Parents coordinating with adult children. Assets spread across accounts and entities with different tax treatment. His role is to hold those pieces in view at the same time, so a choice that looks right on its own does not create a problem somewhere else.

Someone in my family left a large bank to start their own practice, and I had a front-row seat to it. Before that I did not really know this was a career you could build on your own terms. Watching them do it made the work look like what it actually is: helping people think clearly about decisions that matter to them.
High-net-worth families and business owners, usually at a point where things have gotten complicated. Someone approaching a liquidity event. A family whose assets sit across multiple households and account types. People moving from earning to drawing down. The common thread is having several good options and no clear way to compare them.
Retirement planning and multigenerational wealth planning are the core. Around that, investment management and asset allocation, and the coordination work of getting financial decisions to line up across a household or family.
A lot of it is sequencing and location: which account a decision happens in, in what order, and what that means for taxes now versus later. Asset allocation gets looked at across every account a family holds, not one at a time. No recommendation makes sense outside the context of the client’s broader financial picture.
I plan at the household and family level rather than the account level. Most people have their money in more than one place, often across more than one generation, and those pieces get managed as if they are unrelated. They are not. Looking at them together changes what the right answer is.
The shift that happens when someone stops carrying their finances around as a vague worry. They arrive with a pile of accounts and open questions, and at some point it turns into something they can actually see and talk about. That is the part I like.
