Tim Hudson

Hi 👋🏼 I’m Tim. I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with 20 years of experience helping individuals and families make sense of important financial decisions. I focus on financial planning, estate and trust planning, and supporting people through major life transitions, including widows, divorcees, business owners, and families facing difficult health circumstances.

My approach starts with listening. Financial decisions can feel especially complicated during periods of grief or change, so I take the time to understand what clients are going through, explain their options clearly, and create a financial plan that reflects what matters most to them.

Get to know Tim

Tim Hudson, CFP® is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate important financial decisions. His interest in financial advising began close to home. His grandfather, aunt, and father all worked as financial advisors, giving Tim an early look at the impact thoughtful financial guidance could have on families.
‍
That perspective became even more personal after his father passed away. Tim’s mother suddenly faced financial decisions she had never handled on her own, including questions about stocks and mutual funds. Helping her work through those decisions showed Tim how unfamiliar and overwhelming finances can feel when someone is also coping with loss. The experience continues to shape his patient, listening-first approach with clients today.
‍
Tim works with a range of clients, with a particular focus on widows, business owners, and individuals and families dealing with estate considerations. His work includes financial planning, estate planning, and tax-related planning, with an emphasis on helping clients understand how different parts of their financial lives fit together.
‍
Tim and his family call the Summerville, South Carolina area home. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, fitness endurance events, and spending time with family and friends.

How did you become a financial advisor?

Financial advising has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandfather, aunt, and dad were all financial advisors, and I was able to see firsthand the impact they had on so many families and the important work they did. That family example was the spark that led me to pursue this career, and it has shaped the work I’ve done over the last 20 years.
‍
My own family experiences have also influenced the way I work with clients. After my father passed away, I helped my mother navigate financial decisions she had never managed on her own. Seeing how challenging those decisions could feel during grief reinforced the importance of patience, listening, and clear communication.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My primary areas of experience include comprehensive financial planning, estate and trust planning, and tax-related planning. As a CFP® professional, I look at how these different areas connect so clients can better understand the decisions in front of them and how those decisions may affect their broader financial picture.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with individuals and families navigating a variety of financial circumstances, but three areas are particularly important to me: working with widows, business owners, and people dealing with estate-related issues. I also enjoy helping people going through other significant transitions, including divorce or difficult health circumstances.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I regularly help clients develop financial plans and estate plans based on their goals, family circumstances, and financial needs. Depending on the situation, that can involve coordinating financial, estate, and tax considerations and helping clients understand how different decisions may work together over time.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart?

Listening is a major part of how I work. Some of my clients come to me while grieving or navigating a significant change in their lives. I believe it is important to give them the time and space to talk through what they are experiencing before focusing on financial decisions. From there, I work to make complicated topics understandable and help them develop a path forward that reflects their priorities.

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

My favorite part is getting to know clients and helping them see the progress they are making toward their goals. I enjoy taking something that may initially feel complicated or difficult to navigate and helping clients develop a clearer understanding of their financial lives and the decisions ahead.
