New York-based RIA Savvy Advisors has hired four new wealth managers, bringing its team to 20 members, the firm announced on Thursday.

Among the new hires is former professional baseball player Chase Austin, who is based in Charlotte, N.C. and was a minor-leaguer in the Miami Marlins organization. Austin was previously affiliated with MassMutual and Merrill Lynch.

Also joining Savvy are Kentucky-based advisor Josh Branham, who previously worked at Paragon Private Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch; Louis Green, who is based in New York and has a quarter-century of experience with firms including UBS, PNC, and Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management; and California-based Scott Eichler, who founded Standing Oak Advisors in affiliation with Newport Wealth Advisors before doing a short-lived stint at tech-focused RIA Farther.

Savvy Advisors, the in-house RIA of financial technology startup Savvy Wealth, now manages more than $400m in client assets, according to the firm’s latest Form ADV. Savvy offers advisors both W-2 and 1099 models.

‘We believe the future of wealth management will favor those adept at merging industry-leading technology with human insight to meet the ever-changing needs of investors,’ stated Ritik Malhotra, Savvy’s chief executive and co-founder. ‘Savvy has been able to grow at a rapid pace because we have recognized this to be true and have recruited the right advisors to join our mission.’

The four newest hires build on a recruiting push that began last year, which included the additions of advisor Jacob DuBose, who led a $425m team at Empower, and former Charles Schwab advisor John Koury.

Earlier this year, Savvy added advisors Aaron Wiegman, Arynton Hardy and Dustin Parsons, who brought roughly $100m in combined client assets to the firm.

In January, Savvy launched an investment management arm, Savvy Wealth Investment Management, to offer personalized investment portfolios for high net worth clients.
