Brandon Mull, CFA®, CFP®

I’m Brandon, Founder of Marathon Wealth Advisors. I help individuals and families turn complex financial decisions into clear, confident plans built for the long run. With nearly two decades of experience in wealth management and investment strategy, and both the CFA® and CFP® designations, I bring a disciplined, thoughtful approach to every client relationship.

As a lifelong endurance athlete and two-time U.S. Olympic Trials marathon qualifier, I believe the same patience, rigor, and long-term mindset required for successful marathoning are essential to achieving lasting financial outcomes. At the core of my work is a deep respect for each client’s goals and priorities – not only in achieving financial success, but in exploring the question, “What else is possible?” – and a commitment to helping them move forward with clarity and confidence.

How did you become a financial advisor?

I began my career helping launch a registered investment advisor firm during the 2008–2009 financial crisis. While I was immediately drawn to the personal side of advising and the opportunity to help people through uncertain moments, I recognized early on that I needed broader experience before fully stepping into that role. I went on to build a strong foundation in investment management, trading, and research, before taking steps to re-enter the wealth space again with more wisdom under my belt, leveraging those experiences to create meaningful, long-term value for my clients.

What types of clients do you work with?

I serve clients across a broad spectrum, including wealthy individuals, institutions, and endowments as well as younger high earning professionals just starting to secure their financial future. The common thread tends to be astute investors who are looking for long-term professional relationships built on trust unbiased investment counsel. Many of our clients have had experience utilizing their own self management or a sales based advisor. Therefore, my clients prioritize having a fiduciary advisor with independent expertise and advice that is free from conflicts.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My expertise centers on comprehensive financial planning designed to help clients identify and achieve their long-term goals, while also preparing for worst-case scenarios. I pair traditional planning with proactive risk management, utilizing innovative strategies to help hedge against significant, unexpected market events that could threaten long-term wealth creation. I believe this approach shifts the focus from simply accumulating assets to building sustainable, lifelong income streams. I also specialize in analyzing corporate retirement plans such as pensions, deferred compensation, , helping clients evaluate lump-sum decisions and convert them into predictable, inflation-protected sources of income.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I help clients implement strategies across every stage of their financial lives, including retirement planning, intergenerational wealth transfer, and estate maximization using tax- and risk-efficient structures. My work also includes options-based hedging strategies, institutional-quality investment portfolio construction, and detailed planning around Social Security, Medicare, college funding, and financing decisions. Ultimately, my focus is on coordinating every element that impacts a client’s financial world into a cohesive, long-term strategy.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart?

Because of my background as an analyst and trader, I bring a distinct perspective to financial planning. I specialize in translating sophisticated financial concepts into approachable ideas that resonate with my clients. My goal is to help them understand their options and make confident, informed decisions about their financial future.

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

My favorite part of working with my clients is getting to know their stories and what truly matters to them. I enjoy building real relationships and being a trusted partner as we turn their goals into a clear, actionable plan they can feel confident about.
