Elijah brings over eight years of experience in delivering comprehensive financial planning to business owners, families, and individuals. How did you become a financial advisor?

My journey to becoming an advisor started many years ago. Following a degree in accounting, I began my career in mutual fund analytics, followed by my work in private equity as an analyst for several years. While this work was fulfilling, because it gave me a great understanding of investing and financial markets at a high level, I couldn’t help but feel that something was missing. When I witnessed firsthand the devastation that poor financial planning can have on families, I realized that my passion was to use my knowledge and expertise to directly impact people’s lives. Guided by that experience, I transitioned from private equity analytics to personal financial planning and have never looked back. Today, I am grateful that I can continue to employ the same level of care and dedication to helping others in my practice that drove me into this career in the first place.

What types of clients do you work with?

I typically work with post-retirees or individuals transitioning from work to retirement who need income distribution planning, Social Security timing, risk management, and cash flow guidance. I also work with business owners, entrepreneurs seeking tax-aware strategies, non-qualified investment management, risk management, and coordination with personal financial planning. Additionally high-income individuals like earners focused on portfolio management and security selection, optimizing taxes, and bespoke plans tailored to their circumstances and goals.

What areas of expertise do you have? 

I specialize in non-qualified investing, crafting and executing tax-efficient strategies for brokerage accounts. This includes optimizing asset location, managing gain/loss harvesting, and comprehensive liquidity planning.My portfolio management expertise involves building and overseeing meticulously diversified portfolios, precisely aligned with client goals and risk tolerances. Through continuous rebalancing, I evaluate individual equities and funds to create tailored allocations that complement core holdings.Furthermore, I provide robust risk management, ensuring client exposure aligns perfectly with their risk tolerance and time horizons, with a strong emphasis on downside protection and volatility control.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with? 

I specialize in comprehensive retirement income planning. This involves strategically sequencing withdrawals from taxable, tax-deferred, and Roth accounts, while aiming to minimize tax obligations and coordinating Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).Additionally, I assist clients in developing optimal Social Security strategies. This includes determining the ideal filing age, timing spousal and survivor benefits effectively, and aligning investment portfolios. My approach involves adjusting risk and asset allocation based on your retirement horizon, and creating structured income sleeves or buckets to ensure a steady financial future.

My process begins with a deep dive into understanding your unique situation. I spend time to grasp your goals, concerns, family dynamics, and decision style to shape recommendations. I carefully adjust pacing and complexity to your comfort level and prioritize clarity and building your confidence.

While I start with established frameworks, I custom-build scenarios, cash flow projections, and portfolios tailored to your specific needs. Then we explore trade-offs like risk, taxes, liquidity and refine plans collaboratively. My aim is to design portfolios that you can confidently adhere to, emphasizing risk alignment and downside discipline. Finally, I focus on actionable steps, ensuring seamless coordination across your accounts, tax strategies, and estate planning requirements.

What is your favorite part about working with clients? 

What I love most is building lasting relationships with clients. Being there for them through life’s changes and milestones allows me to witness plans come to life, bringing tangible outcomes and the peace of mind that follows with having a plan in place. I also enjoy celebrating progress and providing steady support during challenges. Whether it’s navigating economic downturns or unexpected expenses, I’m committed to guiding my clients with thoughtful strategies.
