Joshua Joffe, CFPÂź

Hi, I’m Josh. I work with individuals and families who want a clear plan and a steady partner when financial decisions start to feel heavy.

A lot of people think this work is about picking the right investments. Investing matters, but much of the real value shows up in the day-to-day questions that inform the investment decisions themselves. Questions like: Can I retire sooner than I thought? What should I do with my equity compensation? How do I balance saving, giving, and enjoying life without feeling like I’m making a mistake?

My job is to help you get organized, make sound decisions with the information we actually have, and stay disciplined when the noise gets loud.

“My goal is to understand you. In every conversation, I try to put myself in your shoes. I may not have lived your exact experience, but I want to understand the thoughts, fears, and decisions you’re facing. Based on that understanding, I’ll work with you to provide clarity.”

Ohr Private Wealth was built around a simple idea: that financial planning should bring light to the parts of life that feel uncertain.

“Ohr” is the Hebrew word for light. And beyond the literal meaning, Ohr represents clarity, transparency, and quiet illumination. To me, this captures what people are really looking for when they reach out. They are not asking for predictions. They are asking for clarity. They want to know where they stand, what matters most, and what a confident next step looks like.

That is why Ohr is designed around integrated planning. Real planning identifies the missing pieces, even as life presents more moving pieces. Taxes affect investment decisions. Cash flow affects retirement timing. Estate decisions affect how you give, how you protect family, and how you sleep at night.

Ohr Private Wealth exists to do that work thoughtfully, while supporting long-term relationships. The goal is not to rush through decisions. The goal is to make fewer, better decisions, with a clear process, and a steady partner.

Get to know Josh

While Josh’s career in wealth management now spans over 20 years, he often jokes that he’s an accidental advisor. With a non-traditional background, his introduction to capital markets happened shortly after college, when he began his career as an equities trader. That experience sparked a deeper interest and passion for investing, and led him into private client portfolio management.

Josh later joined a leading global asset management firm, where he served in senior portfolio management roles. His early years coincided with the 2008 financial crisis, giving him firsthand exposure to risk, market stress, and the importance of discipline. That period shaped how he thinks about portfolio construction and long-term planning.

Over time, he realized he wanted to be closer to the people behind the portfolios. He earned his MBA while working full time and later obtained his CFPÂź certification. He then joined an independent wealth management firm, where he began engaging directly in financial planning alongside portfolio management.

Today, Josh works with a select group of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth households, including business owners, executives, professionals, and families navigating liquidity events, concentrated equity exposure, retirement transitions, and multi-generational planning.

Josh is an inaugural member of the Nasdaq Advisor Council, where he provides perspective on portfolio strategies and industry innovation. He has been recognized among etf.com’s Top 100 Financial Advisors. Josh also serves as co-Chair of the Investment Committee at JKHA, the school his children attend.

Josh resides in Livingston, New Jersey, with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he volunteers as an EMT when time allows. Most of his free time, however, is spent with his family. He is deeply involved in his community and his children’s lives – balancing extra-curricular activities, sporting events, dance recitals, and more. Those moments are reminders that financial planning is ultimately about supporting the lives happening outside of a spreadsheet.

How did you become a financial advisor?

I often describe myself as an accidental advisor. I did not study finance in college.

I started pre-med because that felt like the responsible path, then shifted to English because I loved writing and had no clear idea what came next. My first exposure to markets happened almost by chance when I visited an equity trader's office and became fascinated by what I saw.

That led to my first role in trading, then to portfolio management at a large investment management firm during the 2008 financial crisis. Living through that period shaped how I think about risk, discipline, and humility in markets.

Over time, I realized I wanted to be closer to the people behind the portfolios. I went back to school to earn my MBA, later completed my CFPÂź certification, and transitioned fully into financial planning so I could work directly with clients on the decisions that actually shape their lives.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My background blends institutional investment experience with comprehensive financial planning.

On the investment side, I have experience in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and tax-aware implementation. I am comfortable managing portfolios across public and private markets, incorporating more advanced portfolio strategies, where appropriate.

On the planning side, my work includes retirement income planning, tax coordination, estate and legacy planning, education funding, and lending solutions.

I try to connect these areas while helping clients think through complex financial decisions in a structured way, because in real life, they are all interconnected.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with individuals and families across a wide range of life stages.

That includes retirees thinking about income and legacy, professionals navigating career transitions, executives managing equity compensation, business owners, and families balancing competing priorities.

I do not limit my practice to a single niche. What matters more to me is perspective mindset. The clients who tend to work best with me are those who value clarity, thoughtful advice, and are seeking a long-term relationship rather than a transactional one.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

It depends on the person and the situation.

For some clients, that means navigating a liquidity event or managing a concentrated stock position. For others, it means integrating alternative investments thoughtfully within a broader portfolio. For many, it means designing a long-term distribution strategy that balances tax efficiency with flexibility.

The common theme is durability. The goal is not to chase trends. It is to design portfolios and plans that can hold up through changing markets and evolving circumstances.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart?

I combine institutional investment leadership with deeply personal advice.

I start by defining what success actually means for you. Only then do we design a portfolio around those objectives. I’m less interested in forecasts or bold predictions and more focused on clarity, discipline, and making thoughtful decisions under uncertainty.

I’m also intentional about maintaining a select client base. That allows me to stay responsive, engage more deeply, and preserve the quality of each relationship.

What is your favorite part about working with clients?

Seeing someone shift from uncertainty to clarity.

Many of us carry underlying anxieties around money. Helping someone organize their financial life, make clear and thoughtful decisions, and feel more confident moving forward, is the most rewarding part of my work.
