As the Founder of Horizon Advisory Group, I specialize in guiding clients through major life and business transitions, from growing and exiting a company to navigating retirement, divorce, or loss of a loved one.

My approach is rooted in education and empowerment. I take complex financial topics and make them simple and actionable, so clients can make informed decisions with confidence. Whether I’m designing a comprehensive financial plan, developing a business succession strategy, or creating a personalized retirement income plan, my goal is always the same: to help people move forward with purpose and peace of mind.

Get to know Berkely

Berkely Arrants is the Founder of Horizon Advisory Group, LLC, a Houston based personal and business financial planning firm. Her passion for helping people, and her expertise in taking complex situations and making them simple, led her to become a financial planner. Berkely holds the designations of Certified Financial Planner®, Certified Investment Management Analyst®, and Certified Retirement Planning Counselor®.

Berkely specializes in closely held and family business planning, including transition, employee retention, executive benefits, owner retirement, valuation, and estate planning. She also focuses on personal financial planning, helping owners exit their businesses strategically.

On the personal financial side, through the use of comprehensive financial planning, Berkely helps her clients establish and refine their goals by listening carefully to what is important to them now and in the future. She then designs a strategic, personalized path towards accomplishing their unique objectives.

Berkely has been involved in a number of Boards over the years including Volunteers in Medicine, the First Presbyterian Day School, The Houston Children’s Chorus, The University of Pennsylvania Alumni Club of Houston, and she was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head.

Outside of work, Berkely is devoted to her family and her community. She has been married to Wayne for 32 years and has two children Tucker and Devin. She practices yoga regularly and loves to travel and spend time outdoors.

How did you become a financial advisor?

My path to financial planning was both unexpected and perfectly fitting. While transitioning careers, I found myself deep in conversation with my father about a trust he was setting up. Curious, I asked him, “What’s that job called – talking about this kind of stuff all day?” He laughed and said, “I think it’s financial planning. Call my friend Phil; he’ll know.” So I did! As it turns out, he was right. From that moment on, I knew I had found a profession where I could combine my love of problem-solving, education, and helping others into meaningful work.

I was born in London, UK, and moved to the United States for college at age 18. I earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where I also co-captained the Varsity Women’s Crew team. After several years in marketing, I pursued my passion for entertainment, working as an actor and producer. In 2000, after starting a family, I transitioned to financial planning.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My core areas of expertise include financial planning and analysis, retirement income planning, and holistic wealth management. Beyond the numbers, I bring a strong sense of organization and a passion for education. I aim to help my clients clearly understand their options, so they can make confident decisions. I’m known for explaining complex concepts in simple, relatable terms, and approaching every conversation with compassion and curiosity.

What types of clients do you work with?

I specialize in working with several different types of clients: corporate executives who want to take a more intentional approach to their financial future; business owners who devote their time working in their business and need support working on their business; and women, especially those navigating major life transitions like becoming widowed, divorced, separated or entering retirement.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I focus on starting each client with a financial planning process. We take a holistic approach, which means we place a high importance on bringing together all the pieces of a person’s financial life to create a clear pathway that aligns their resources with their goals, dreams, and wishes.

Our expertise lies in guiding clients through significant life transitions such as business life cycles, marriage, childbirth, job changes, retirement, spousal death, and divorce. We also specialize in retirement income planning.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart? 

I focus on making people feel truly heard and seen. My goal is to empower clients through education. I feel this overwhelming sense of purpose through helping my clients make confident, intentional decisions about their future and the future of those who depend on them.

What is your favorite part about working with clients? 

The most rewarding part of my role as a wealth manager is seeing the moment everything clicks for a client. When they feel confident, in control, and excited about their future, I know I've helped them achieve something significant.

I believe it's incredibly important for my clients to be well-informed about the crucial decisions impacting their future and the future of their loved ones. That's why I dedicate myself to educating them, ensuring they have the confidence to move forward with plans tailored to their unique circumstances. No question is too small.
