Stephanie Gumm is a seasoned financial advisor and business owner with over 25 years of experience helping clients achieve their financial goals. She is passionate about guiding women, small business owners, executives, and dentists through comprehensive financial planning, retirement income strategies, business planning, tax planning, and portfolio analysis. Stephanie is committed to aligning her clients’ strategies with their values, dreams, and long-term goals, ensuring that every recommendation is purposeful and actionable.

Stephanie brings a unique perspective to her clients, shaped by her own family experience. Raised in Baltimore with a private school education and summers spent at Rehoboth Beach, she witnessed firsthand the challenges families face when retirement and long-term planning are overlooked. This experience fuels her passion for educating clients and helping them confidently navigate their financial journey. For her business-owner clients, Stephanie begins each engagement with a thorough exit strategy, ensuring the business and personal financial goals are aligned for a successful transition in the future.

Outside of her professional life, Stephanie is deeply committed to her community. She serves as Vice Chair of the Board at Dandelion Meadow, supporting women who are victims of addiction and human trafficking, and she helped found the Love For Children outreach program through St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, and spending time in the Virginia mountains with her husband and twin children.

How did you become a financial advisor?

I started my career in group benefits design, helping small business owners navigate complex insurance and benefits decisions. Early on, I realized I wanted to do more to make a broader impact on my clients’ financial lives. That led me to transition into financial advising, and eventually into comprehensive financial planning, where I can help clients create holistic strategies that align with both their personal and business goals.

What areas of expertise do you have?

My expertise lies in exit planning, holistic financial planning, and wealth management. I help clients connect all the pieces of their financial lives being business, personal, and investment strategies, so they can make informed decisions and work toward their long-term goals with confidence.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work primarily with small business owners, dentists, and individuals who are focused on securing their retirement. I enjoy helping clients navigate both their personal and business financial lives, creating strategies that provide clarity, confidence, and long-term peace of mind.

What types of strategies do you usually help clients with?

I help clients with a wide range of strategies designed to create a comprehensive, tailored financial plan. This includes tax planning to minimize liabilities, cash flow management to ensure money is working efficiently, risk management to help protect against unexpected events, and wealth management strategies aimed to grow and preserve assets. My approach is always holistic, connecting each piece of a client’s financial picture to help them achieve their short- and long-term goals.

Is there a unique approach that sets you apart? 

I really believe in the prioritization of educating my clients so they fully understand their options and the impact of each decision. By providing clear explanations and fostering understanding, I truly empower my clients to make intentional, confident choices about their financial future. My approach isn’t just about managing money, it’s about giving clients the knowledge and clarity to take control of their goals.

What is your favorite part about working with clients? 

My favorite part of working with clients is helping them take control of their financial future. I love guiding them through complex decisions, breaking down complicated concepts, and showing them how different strategies can work together to achieve their goals. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing clients gain clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction, whether it’s planning for retirement, growing their business, or preparing for a major life transition. Being part of that process and watching their progress firsthand is what makes this work so fulfilling.
