He began his career after graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1988 with a BS in Accounting, spending nearly a decade in accounting, including time as a corporate CFO. In 2020, Bruce brought his practice to Colorado Wealth Group to expand his ability to collaborate, mentor, and continue his passion for helping clients organize and understand their financial lives.
Over the years, his practice has evolved to take a multi-generational approach, working with clients and their families across different life stages. He has written a book on taxes and holds the Certified Estate Planner⢠(CEP®) designation, focusing on estate planning essentials such as living trusts, estate taxes, and disability or special needs planning. Jacobās professional designations include Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMAĀ®) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIFĀ®).
These credentials, combined with his deep experience, allow him to deliver comprehensive, tailored financial planning and investment guidance for each clientās unique situation.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife, Leanne, and their children. They love exploring Coloradoās outdoors, trying new restaurants and breweries, and enjoying time with family and friends.

My career began in accounting, eventually leading to a corporate CFO role. Over time, I found myself wanting to work more directly with individuals and families, helping them make sense of their finances in a way that felt accessible and personal. That desire prompted my transition into financial advising, where retirement and tax planning became central parts of my work.
My background includes tax planning, estate planning, and retirement planning. These areas often overlap, and I enjoy helping clients understand how decisions in one area influence the others. My training as a CEPĀ® and my work as an Enrolled Agent contribute to the technical foundation I bring to each relationship.
I primarily work with people who are at or nearing retirement. Many are preparing for major financial transitions, evaluating their income needs, or working through estate and legacy considerations. I also collaborate with families across generations, helping them stay organized and aligned as their circumstances evolve.
I focus on tax planning and optimization because they are crucial aspects to consider when managing your finances. By strategizing efficient ways to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings, my clients can plan for the future. Additionally, I also help clients with retirement planning, Investment management, and cash flow planning because they are essential for maintaining a healthy financial balance.
I assist clients with Social Security filing considerations, tax-aware planning, retirement income planning, and estate and trust planning. These strategies are guided by a clientās goals, family structure, and long-term needs, and I take a holistic look at how each piece fits into the broader picture.
I tend to start with taxes. It often provides a useful framework for understanding someoneās overall situation, and it helps reveal opportunities or considerations that might otherwise be overlooked. That tax-first perspective has been part of my approach since the beginning of my work in financial planning.
I enjoy catching up with clients and learning how their lives and priorities are evolving. Those conversations help shape the guidance I provide and strengthen long-term relationships. Seeing clients gain clarity and a stronger sense of direction is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.
I appreciate the high level of support Savvy provides ā from technology to operational resources ā which helps create a smoother experience for both advisors and clients.
